Research

My research focusses on accretion onto neutron stars and black holes, particularly at low luminosities. I study the physics of low-level accretion, thermonuclear X-ray bursts, the quiescent properties of X-ray binaries, and the thermal properties of neutron stars (see also my CV). Furthermore, I am the principal investigator of a daily X-ray monitoring campaign of the center of our Milky Way galaxy using the Swift satellite.
